Here is the guide to the 6 Nations 2021 of Rugby

This weekend kicks off the 22nd edition of the 6 Nations of rugby which will end with the weekend of 20 March.

After the anomalous year of 2020 with the tournament closed in October with the victory of England, we hope for an edition that goes smoothly, covid permitting.

ENGLAND

The national team led for 6 years by coach Eddie Jones and reigning champion of the 6 Nations of Rugby, starts with the favor of the prediction also in 2021 so much so that the bookmakers give it a 50% chance of winning. Captain Farrel and his teammates come from the autumn test matches in which they beat Georgia, Ireland, Wales and especially France, with the cockerels presumably going to be the main rivals for the title. While waiting for the return of the Marler pylon, the three lions have to live with the Underhill tile. The third line will be out for several weeks and the hope is to find him again against France in the fourth and (probably) decisive day.

FRANCE

After the second place in the last edition and a victory that has been missing since 2010, the goal of coach Galthiè continues to be to continue to improve a young and ambitious group towards the 2023 World Cup. But according to the experts, captain Ollivon and the scrum-half Dupont (best player in 6 nations 2020) are no longer a surprise. The team (best attack of the last edition) is gaining more and more experience which, added to the undoubted quality of the squad, can be an important mix for the immediate future. The mental factor still remains something to work on.

IRELAND

Coach Farrel's greens start in the third row or from the position in which they closed the 6 nations 2020 with 3 wins 2 defeats. The debut in Wales will be immediately indicative to understand the potential of Captain Sexton and his teammates who will have to do without Doris and Roux in the opening match but will find the prop Furlong again after a year of inactivity. In the autumn in the ANC ended 32-9 for the Irish against the dragons. An away win would be very important on a moral level. The dubliners' dream is to make it to the final matchday against England with the title still arithmetically at stake.

WALES

Last 6 Nations to forget for the Welsh Rugby who finished in fifth place with a single victory. Even the test matches of the autumn nations cup were certainly not positive with the only victories against Georgia and Italy. Coach Wayne Pivac has to live with a long series of injuries (including Patchell's) that are tearing the squad apart, so much so that the former Priestland has been rescued after 4 years of absence. The dreams of glory experienced in 2019 with the title win seem light years away and for Wales the only affordable challenges on paper could be Italy and Scotland.

SCOTLAND

Since 2000, the year in which Italy became part of the competition, transforming it from 5 to 6 nations, the formation that has taken the most wooden spoons after the Azzurri is the tartan army (4 times). In this 2021 coach Towsend's boys seem to have some more chance of fighting with Wales (beaten last October) for fourth place. The team that continues to have a very solid defense (only 59 points awarded in the last edition), however, struggles in the offensive maneuver. Uncertainties remain about the physical condition of winger Hogg, a very important man for the Scottish maneuver.

ITALY

Four victories in the last 15 official matches (against Russia in a friendly, Canada and Namibia in the world cup and against Fiji in the ANC) are very few to be able to face these 6 nations with a minimum of confidence. South African coach Franco Smith talks about a long-range project but the truth is that in addition to this 6 nations where Italy risks the wooden spoon again, there is a 2023 World Cup that is closer than you think. Obviously, the Azzurri need to improve their mental and physical strength, the one that causes them to collapse in the last third of matches and squander what they have done in the first hour of play. Already in the home debut against France we will see Captain Bigi and his teammates how much they can give in this edition.
