Serie A - Day 1: statistics, odds and predictions

The new Serie A championship kicks off on Saturday. A season that is expected to crackle, also thanks to the numerous changes in the benches of the top clubs.
Here are many exclusive statistics that you will need to better bet on the first day of Serie A 2021/2022.
INTER - GENOA 1(1,37) X(5,00) 2(8,00)
Inter have drawn only one of their last 10 Serie A debut games: 0-0 in 2014 against Torino (6W, 3P), after having finished in a draw all four previous ones.
Genoa have remained unbeaten in their last five Serie A debut games, alternating a win with a draw (3W, 2N): a 4-1 success in the most recent one against Crotone in 2020.
Player to watch: The next will be the 200th appearance in Serie A for Edin Dzeko: the new signing of Inter has put a hand in eight goals against Genoa in the competition (three goals, five assists), against no other team matters more.
VERONA - SASSUOLO 1(2,65) X (3,35) 2(2,64)
Verona have collected only one point in their last five matches against Sassuolo in Serie A (1N, 4P), after remaining unbeaten in five of the first seven matches against the Emilians in the competition (4W, 1N, 2P).
Sassuolo have only collected one point in their last two Serie A debut matches; the neroverdi have never had three season debuts in a row without a victory in the top flight.
Player to watch: In the last two Serie A seasons, Verona's Marco Davide Faraoni has taken part in 19 goals (nine goals and 10 assists), only two defenders have been involved in more goals in the period in the Italian top flight: Robin Gosens (34) and Theo Hernández (21).
TORINO - ATALANTA 1(5,35) X(4,35) 2(1,57)
Torino have lost two of their last three games against Atalanta in Serie A (1N), including the 0-7 home game in January 2020, the largest home defeat in Serie A history - on par with Torino v AC Milan 0 -7 in 2021.
Atalanta have scored 11 goals in their last three Serie A debut games, they are the team that has scored the most in the opening game in the Italian top flight in the past three seasons.
Player to watch: After not scoring in any of the first 11 matches against Atalanta in Serie A, Andrea Belotti has scored three goals in his last two matches against the Dea in the league; the Torino forward is close to 100 goals in Serie A (currently at 98).
EMPOLI - LAZIO 1(4,40) X(3,80) 2(1,77)
Empoli have lost each of their last five games against Lazio in Serie A: only against Inter and Juventus have the Tuscan team collected at least six consecutive defeats in the top flight
After scoring just one point in his first three games in his Serie A debut, Maurizio Sarri has won the last two. The Lazio new technician has lost his last two league games, only once in Serie A has he recorded three defeats in a row: at the helm of Empoli in November 2014.
Player to watch: Ciro Immobile has scored seven goals in his last eight Serie A debut games, including five goals in five of those matches for Lazio.
UDINESE - JUVENTUS 1(6,60) X(4,40) 2(1,48)
Udinese have drawn only one of their last 11 games in their season debut in the league (4W, 6P): 2-2 in August 2018 against Parma.
Massimiliano Allegri is the Juventus coach with the best percentage of victories in Serie A (75%: 142V, 28N, 20P). The Livorno coach has won four of his five debut league games of the season at the helm of the Bianconeri (1P), after having only achieved one win in the previous six between Cagliari and Milan in Serie A (2N, 3P).
Player to watch: Cristiano Ronaldo has scored seven goals against Udinese in the league, including his last double in the tournament (May 2021 at the Dacia Arena) - only against Cagliari (eight) the Juventus forward has scored more goals in Serie A.
BOLOGNA - SALERNITANA 1(1,70) X(3,90) 2(4,80)
Bologna have won only one of their last 11 Serie A debut games (4N, 6P): 1-0 against Crotone in 2016, on the last occasion they hosted a newly promoted team in their first league match.
In the previous two season debut matches in Serie A, Salernitana challenged Lazio and Rome: a 2-0 victory against the Biancocelesti in 1947, and a 3-1 defeat against the Giallorossi, at the Olimpico, in 1998.
Player to watch: Musa Barrow has taken part in seven goals in his last seven games against newly promoted sides in Serie A (three goals and four assists). In 2020/21 the Bologna-born striker was the second youngest player with at least eight goals and eight assists in the European Top-5 leagues, behind only Jadon Sancho.
ROMA - FIORENTINA 1(1,77) X (3,90) 2(4,35)
The new Roma coach José Mourinho has an average of 2.18 points per game in the Italian championship, among the Serie A coaches in the era of three points per victory (since 1994/95) only Antonio Conte (2.26) has done better.
Fiorentina have lost in all the last three occasions in which they made their Serie A debut at the Olimpico in Rome: three defeats, all against the Giallorossi, in 1990, 2004 and 2014.
Player to watch: In 2021 no player has scored more goals than Dusan Vlahovic (17) in Serie A, on a par with Cristiano Ronaldo. However, Roma are the team against which the Fiorentina striker has lost the most matches in the tournament (four out of four).
NAPOLI - VENEZIA 1(1,26) X(6,15) 2(10,30)
Napoli remained unbeaten in 10 of the 12 matches against Venezia in Serie A (4V, 6N); victorious in the last match against the lagoon (4-0 in 1967), the Neapolitans have never won two games in a row against the Venetians in the top flight.
Among the teams currently in Serie A, Venezia are the squad that has been waiting for the victory in the top league for several rounds (12: 3N, 9P) - the most recent success dates back to a 2-0 win against Fiorentina in February 2002.
Player to watch: In his last 22 matches against newly promoted teams in Serie A, Napoli's Lorenzo Insigne has taken part in 24 goals (12 goals and 12 assists).
CAGLIARI - SPEZIA 1(2,03) X(3,50) 2(3,55)
Cagliari have not found the way to scoring in their last three league games, the last time they did not score for four consecutive Serie A matches was in July 2020.
Spezia lost their Serie A debut last season (1-4 vs Sassuolo). The Ligurians, however, won their first away match in the top flight, becoming the second team to achieve success in the first ever away match in the competition in the 21st century, after Delneri's Chievo in 2001.
Player to watch: João Pedro (41 goals) is the Brazilian top scorer in the last three seasons in the European Top-5 leagues (from 2018/19) - the striker born in 1992 could become the 5th player in the history of the Cagliari to score in seven different seasons in Serie A, after Luigi Riva (12) Daniele Conti (11), Nene (10) and Ricciotti Greatti (seven).
SAMPDORIA - MILAN 1(3,85) X(3,50) 2(1,87)
Sampdoria have lost their last three debut games of the season in the league, always remaining without goals in the partial; the Sampdoria have never lost four consecutive Serie A debut games in a row in their history.
Milan have kept a clean sheet in their last five league games, the last time they recorded at least six clean sheets in a row in Serie A dates back to February 1994 (nine in that case with Fabio Capello at the helm).
Player to watch: Olivier Giroud could become the 15th different French scorer in the history of Milan in Serie A: the Rossoneri are already the team with the most players of this nationality scoring in the competition.
